In this tutorial, I will guide you on how to obtain a TLD domain for absolutely free. So, before getting into my guide, let's first understand what a TLD domain is. TLD stands for Top-Level Domain, which includes domain extensions such as .com, .in, and many more.
What is the difference between a TLD domain and a Free Domain?
A TLD domain is a premium domain owned by you where you have full control over the domain, like you can add custom DNS and customize dns settings, can able to connect with 3rd party web servers. Connecting these domains to your sites gives you more credibility for your business and can gain trust with your customers.
Free domains are actually subdomains that are owned not by you, but by the service provider you are using. These domains look unprofessional, but they are totally free of cost. These domain have limitations in terms of DNS management and other features compared with premium domain, but can be choosed if you are a beginner with no investment. By default, Blogger comes with free .blogspot domains, which you can opt for if you prefer cost-free web development.
How to purchase a TLD domain in 2025 for free
1. Go to Namecheap.com
2. Change the currency from USD to INR.
3. Create an account in Namecheap using the signup button on the home page. Enter all the details below and click on Create an account
4. After creating an account, the next step is to log in to your account. You can log in using the sign-in button on the home page.
5. After logging in to your admin panel, click on the name cheap logo at the top, and you’ll be redirected to the home page. Enter the domain you need in the domain search input field.

6. Click on the search button after entering your domain name. On the next page, click on Add to cart option.
7. On the Cart page, you’ll see the domain details such as the total amount and domain validity period. If you observe closely on the right side, you’ll see an input field called promo code.
8. Paste the promocode given below in the promocode section
“FREEDOMAIN25”
Copy the text inside the semicolon and paste it in the promo code field, and click on apply. The total amount for the domain will become zero. Only 17 rupees will be charged for this domain.
9. Click on the confirm order button and complete the payment using an International transaction supporting Debit/Credit Cards.
10. Finally, place the Order, and hurray, you have claimed your free domain from Namecheap.
